Level Up! Live 2013

Yesterday, we attended the Level Up! Live 2013 and it's good to see my Ragnarok guild mates again. However, there are some changes in the usual LU Live format that made this year's event boring.

First, the usual Level Up! Passport is gone and it was replaced by a regular entrance ticket. The P50 entrance fee in the past includes the P50 Level Up! Load. This is gone in this year's LU Live.

The several side events that need to be completed to get a loot bag are also gone. It was replaced by Grand Pix, which is similar to a small version of each game's tournament. Ragnarok Online had 15 teams battling it out for Championship. A guild named Junjun became victorious in this side event.

The last event of this one-day event was the finals match between Domini Exitium and Vierge-Dang Chromosomes of Ragnarok Online. Domini Exitium won the Ragnarok Philippine Championship (RPC) 2013..

LU City is still there but it was greatly decrease in terms of floor space and number of participants. I hardly recognized the items being sold, especially RF Online items, since that game already closed its server early this year. No new games were introduced in this year’s Level Up! Live. I was really expecting that Level Up! Games (LUG) will announce their acquisition of Ragnarok Online 2 (RO2) rights to be published in the country but no such announcement was made.

This year’s list of sponsors were also few and there were no activities from these sponsors – except free trials of Assault on Fire from Samsung. There were a lot of booths from Sulit.com.ph offering items related to gaming and PC Express gave out some discounts on their merchandize.

There were no LU Film Festival or Art Contest conducted this year, which makes Level Up! Live 2013 very boring. A lot of my fellow guild mates felt the same way about this year’s event. I guess the reason for missing out these usual (and favorite) side events is the fact that Level Up! Live was moved from the usual November event to July. The organizers probably lack time to come up with a jam-packed one-day awesome gaming event.

The best news that I got from Level Up! Live 2013 was the announcement of the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Philippine Ragnarok Online on September 14, 2013, Saturday, at the Skydome, SM North EDSA. Hope to see all the players of Ragnarok Online on that event.
