I probably heard about Ace Water Spa back in 2008 or 2009. My team mates at the call center are planning to have a team building there when their Quezon City branch was opened to the public. I like the idea of a massage using water jets.
A few months ago, while I was having a photo walk in Barangay Kapitolyo, I learned that there is an Ace Water Spa in United Street. I told my boyfriend about it and he searched for any good deals at Metrodeal for Ace Water Spa.
He was able to get a room for 2 at the Ace Hotel and Suites that includes 2 tickets at the Ace Water Spa (priced at P550 each) and 2 tickets for a breakfast buffet (also priced at P550 each). It’s P4,200 for a stay starting from 2:00 PM to 12:00 noon the following day. We stayed there Saturday until yesterday noon.
We arrived late at 3:00 PM after buying a P450 swimming trunks from Bench (they’re strict with the swimming attire). We rested, checked our room, which for us is large even if it’s a queen size bed. Around 5:00 PM, we went downstairs to the lobby and tried the water spa.
We presented our tickets, have it exchanged for a receipt with a bar code, scanned it at the entrance, deposited our sandals and was given a key to a locker. After the locker room, there’s the shower room and then the spa and swimming pool. They’ve provided towels and even a red head cap.
The stay at the water spa is up to 4 hours and we’ve tried all the amenities. I don’t know if the swimming pool is Olympic size (I think it’s not) but it’s tiring to swim. There are 4 jacuzzi pools each with a different colored-lights and temperature – 34 degrees, 36, 38 and the hottest at 40 degrees Celsius. There are also 2 steam rooms and 2 sauna rooms. It’s my first time to be in a steam room and I didn’t even last 10 minutes inside because I find it hard to breathe.
The water spa facilities includes a lot of water jets targeting a particular part of the body. There are overhead showers that target the head, the back and the shoulders. There are water jets that targets the chest, arms and waist. There are water jets that targets the thigh and feet. The one I like most is the overhead water jets wherein you could lie underneath – like “rain” bathing.
The water spa is like a maze wherein you could go from one stream to the other. I guess there’s a timer in each segment of the maze because the water stops after some time and you have to press a button nearby for the water jet to start ejecting water again. There are instructions and visuals in each of the segment of the water spa maze explaining the recommended duration (like 2-3 minutes) and body part to target. After more than 3 hours at the water spa, we decided to call it a night.
The next morning, we had a breakfast buffet at the 8th floor Sky Garden. The number of food available can rival that of Something’s Fishy in Eastwood. They have almost everything you can find in a Filipino and American breakfast table. Their salad is so good… their sausages and bacon are good, as well as the beef tapa and small “tuyo” (fried to perfection to get that crispiness). I’ve eaten so much that I skipped lunch and dinner that day.
If you haven’t experience the Ace Water Spa treatment, now is the best time to try it. Our only comment was the flooring of our hotel room – it gets so moist due to the coldness that you would thought there’s a leak at the ceiling. Also, the tile at the toilet and bath is the same as the tiles in the room itself – and I almost slid. Other than that, the room is perfect complete with cooking utensils and a dining table for 2.
