Rizal Park and City Hall (Baguio)

Adjacent to Burnham Park and Rose Garden is a park dedicated to the Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. The most prominent part of Rizal Park in Baguio is the obelisk that has a bas-relief of our National Hero.

Rizal Park in Baguio has a nice view of the Rose Garden and Burnham Park. Then just a few steps from Rizal Park, you’ll find the Baguio City Hall.

I love the architecture of the Baguio City Hall. It incorporated a very familiar feature of Baguio – the use of riprap (stones incorporated into concrete to protect the soil from erosion). Also, it’s a perfect example of architecture influenced by the American builders of Baguio. I believe it’s also Daniel Burnham who designed this building which he used as a reference point of the city limit.
