St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish Church (also known as San Luis Gonzaga Parish Church or simply San Luis Church) is located at the town center (Poblacion) of San Luis, Pampanga. It’s under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Fernando and is dedicated to Saint Aloysius Gonzaga.
Saint Aloysius Gonzaga is an Italian aristocrat who became a member of the Society of Jesus. He died as a result of caring for the victims of an epidemic and was canonized in 1726 and is the patron saint of young students. In 1926, he was named patron saint of all Christian youth by Pope Pius XI. According to the American Catholic website, “For his compassion and courage in the face of an incurable disease, St. Aloysius Gonzaga has become the patron of both AIDS sufferers and their caregivers.”
According to Wikipedia, St Aloysius Gonzaga Parish Church was founded in 1742 by the Augustinians. It was restored in 1883.
Last May 15, 2015, during the Feast of St Isidore the Laborer, me and my photography friends visited and explored this magnificent old church.
The main entrance has a Papal Seal on top of the doorway.
Interior of the church.
I believe these are the 10 commandments written in the local dialect of Kapampangan.
Several statues inside the church.
St Aloysius portrayed as a young boy.
The ceiling of this old church needs repair and restoration.
