Last year, during our mapping activity for the Philippine Heritage Map website, we were assigned 4 towns in Nueva Vizcaya – Solano, Dupax del Sur, Bambang and Bayombong. My team mate Paolo were able to contact the personnel at the newly-opened People’s Museum and Library in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. It’s located at the heart of the town – near the church and municipal hall.
The librarians and personnel from the tourism department of Bayombong were very helpful and accommodating. They toured us around the historical places in town like the Gabaldon School and the museum. Here are some of the pictures I took.
I hope that every province in the country will have a provincial museum and library. We badly need it these days in order to educate our youth about our rich heritage and culture as well as to open our eyes in the importance of cultural heritage and preservation. I believe that the progress of a town or city can be seen in the way it treats its pets… and cultural heritage.
