Banda 31 Original in Close-Up

This year’s On-The-Spot (OTS) contest in Villa Escudero is different in a way because we take pictures of the event in Close-Up category (not the usual Wide Angle or 18-55 Kit Lens). Shooting a fiesta in macro (or close-up) is something new to us.

One of the most photographed groups of performers during the Villa Escudero’s Feast of the Ascension is the members of Banda 31 Original of Sta. Maria, Bulacan Inc. Probably because of their uniform in red-orange combination or their musical instruments.

Other reasons why most of us shoot their group are because of their musical instruments. It’s really good in macro/close-up – showing the details of the flute, drums and other musical instruments.

Here are my close-up pictures of Banda 31 Original of Sta. Maria, Bulacan Inc. I would love to take their pictures again on June 22, 2014 at Luneta. They will give a performance at the Concert at the Park.

Nuffnang Bloggers’ Night At Clump Restobar

I’m not a regular bar hopper but when Nuffnang PH invited me to check out the Clump Restobar in Makati City, I immediately said “yes”. The place definitely has a cozy atmosphere and serves great food and drinks.

IMG_0439

Clump Restobar is located at 1137 Kamagong Street, Makati City. I’m from Pasig City and I don’t have a car. From EDSA-Shaw Boulevard Crossing, I rode the bus via Ayala/Leveriza and took off at Mayapis Street near the old railroad tracks. From there, I took a tricycle to Clump Restobar.

The Restobar has a neat façade with parking slots for about 5 cars. As you enter the bar, you’ll be greeted by a wall with falling waters. The design is open-space to take advantage of natural ventilation. It has a VIP room (enclosed) that could sit around 15 people. It’s a great place to have a videoke session! The color scheme is orange-brown which gives it a sense of excitement. Paintings adorn the walls to give elegance.

There’s a stage for daily band performances and a small mezzanine. The bar table is located on the side as well as benches that resembles a diner. There are trellises over the benches with pebbles, which gives the feel of garden setting.

We were greeted by Ella Valdez, who’s the consultant of Clump Restobar. I was with Fritz Valle and other Nuffnang PH bloggers last night at this wonderful place. We were given basic tour of the Restobar, a little history of the place, information on upcoming events and promos, and she let us savor the restobar’s best sellers.

The first ones that we tasted were the Jelly Shot (green gelatin with liquor) the Pork Sisig followed by the Pika Pika Platter. I went straight to the chicken and fish since I’m avoiding pork. The fish tasted so good and it instantly became my favorite. Then the Tofu Sisig and People’s Choice followed.

I loved the Tofu Sisig! It’s a little crispy and the chili flavor is just perfect. The People’s Choice has shrimp and beef on it. The shrimp is very crispy and the beef is tender. The taste reminds me of Korean Beef. The atchara is also good.

We were given 4 of their best cocktails – Submission, Lime Margarita, Landslide and Gentle Twist. I find Landslide the best among the four. It reminds me of Baileys with its rich chocolate flavor. I also like the Gentle Twist with its bubble-gum flavor. The Lime Margarita gives a very strong flavor (I forgot to lick the salt on the edge of the glass).

Overall, the Clump Restobar is a great place for friends to relax and unwind after a day’s work. The bar is open from 5:30 PM until 2:00 AM (Tuesday-Thursday) and until 4:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. They have different themes/promos everyday namely:

  • Tuesday Tequila
  • Ladies Night Wednesday
  • Thursday Beer Bomb
  • Wild Friday Night

Their upcoming events include their Valentine’s Day Celebration (February 14, 2013) and their 1st Anniversary (February 23, 2013). So if you’re around the Makati area and want to experience a bar with cozy atmosphere and delicious Clump Beerkada Platters, come and visit the place!

Moonstar88 and Kamikazee for Ragnarok Online

The Ragnarok Philippine Championship (RPC) 2012 held yesterday at the Skydome, SM North EDSA gives a lot of first experience for me. It was my first time to hear Moonstar88 and Kamikazee perform LIVE.

Moonstar88 performed the song “Sembreak”.

I heard these two bands first through Ragnarok Online via LU Music, which is being sold at the annual Level Up! Live. I’m not a hardcore fan of Pinoy bands but since these two bands composed songs for Ragnarok Online, I bought the LU Music CDs.

Moonstar88 performed the song "Pag-ibig Ko Sa Iyo" when Level Up! Games released Episode 6: "Amatsu and Kunlun: A Tale of Two Cities". Kamikazee also released their song “Chixilog” in that same CD entitled “Rok On”. The rest they say is history – “Chixilog” became the theme song of Ragnarok Online and it became famous even with non-Ragnarok players. In fact, I was surprised that my team mates sang that song in the videoke.

I was able to capture these two band’s LIVE performances yesterday using my Canon EOS 1100D. I forgot to charge the battery of my DSLR thus; I wasn’t able to capture the other songs they sang. I hope you enjoy watching these videos.

Kamikazee definitely brought the house down. We all love their song “Chixilog”.

In Pictures: 9th Anniversary Celebration of Ragnarok Online

I just got home from attending Ragnarok’s 9th Anniversary Celebration held at the Skydome, SM North EDSA. The event was a blast and jam-packed with loyal players from the country’s first MMORPG: Ragnarok Online.

IMG_7789

The highlight of the celebration is the Ragnarok Philippine Championship (RPC) 2012 Final 8 Tournament. This event determines the two teams that will battle each other for the finals to be held at Level Up! Live 2012 on November 3-4, 2012 at the World Trace Center.

We arrived at the Skydome around 1:30 PM and witnessed the battle between Sentinels and Legion of Doom (L.O.D.) of New Loki server. Legion of Doom won. We also watched the battle between Lux Lucis (New Iris server) and Chromosomes where the latter became victorious. So the two teams that will compete for the finals are Legion of Doom and Chromosomes.

Sentinels and Lux Lucis also battled each other for 3rd place where Lux Lucis emerged victorious. There is also a new game that was introduced today: Brawl Busters. The website describe it as “a quick and wild, third-person fighting game set in a cartoony 3D urban world”. I guess it resembles R.O.S.E. Online. Check it out here: http://account.levelupgames.ph/BrawlBusters/

There were a lot of cute guys in the Mr. Ragnarok 2012 competition! It started out as a popularity contest on Facebook similar to Mr. Pogi. The buffed guy in red definitely was a stand-out and he’s just 22 or 23 years old. Of course, most of the crowd cheered for the candidates of the Ms. Ragnarok 2012 and there was even a competition for the bekis (gays) called Chixilog ng Bayan 2012. Chixilog is usually a guy in real life that has a female character online.

Other events in today’s celebration include the Headgear Contest (there was a Poo Poo Hat) and Cosplay Competition which focuses only on Ragnarok characters.

We also witnessed the performance of Moonstar88 who sang “Senti”, “Panalangin”, “Sembreak”, and “Ligaw” (Lost). I first heard the band Moonstar88 when the Ragnarok patch “Amatsu and Kunlun” was released years ago. It came up with an audio album that featured a lot of songs for Ragnarok.

Kamikazee also performed “Narda”, “Martyr Nyebera”, “Doobidoo” and their signature song for Ragnarok Online, “Chixilog”. We sang with them in all their songs and their performance is definitely a blast. Most of the crowd stayed for this performance of Kamikazee and it’s worth it.

I hope to see you guys at the Level Up! Live next month. Until then and keep playing Ragnarok Online!
