The 13th Grand Bambino Festival in Pictures (Part 1)

It was my first time to attend the Grand Bambino Festival of Pasig City although I’ve been living here in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City for quite some time. The Grand Bambino Festival of Pasig City is now on its 13th year and it is Pasig City’s version of the Sinulog Festival, in honor of the Child Jesus (a.k.a. Sto. Nino).

As a photographer, the Grand Bambino Festival is a great venue to practice street portraiture and events photography. There were several subjects of the Sto. Nino and the devotees. As a tourist though (first time to attend) I find the Bambino Festival of Pasig City quite tiring because the distance between each barangay is quite long.

In fact, it took more than 2 hours to see the majority of the floats (we were unable to finish it). Not to mention that half of the street along Caruncho Avenue is occupied by the participants while the rest is occupied by the viewers. I wish there was a rope to segregate the participants and the viewers so that photographers will have a better vantage point (and breathing space). Also, the organizers should have limited the number of participants in each barangay (and school) to shorten the parade and to give emphasis on the float.

Overall, I was able to get some good shots of the event. I hope the organizers next year would take note of the suggestions I’ve given here to elevate the status of the Grand Bambino Festival as a festival similar in quality to the MassKara, Panagbenga and Sinulog.

Ragnarok’s Episode 28.2 Kagerou and Oboro

The Philippine Ragnarok Online (pRO) released today the much-awaited 2nd job of the Ninja Class: Kagerou and Oboro. The pRO is now on its Episode 28.2 and promises to attract inactive players (like me) back to the First MMORPG in the Philippines: Ragnarok Online.

Hopefully, the source of my disappointment with the management of Level-Up Games! (the bad customer service of GM Anael) is permanently gone from managing the game.

Second thing, I’m hoping that the game is now compatible with Windows 8.1. In October (or November) last year when the latest Operating System (OS) from Microsoft was released, it encountered incompatibility with the game like the inability to change the screen size. Hopefully this issue is finally addressed.

Episode 28.2 Kagerou and Oboro was long overdue. It was announced by LUG as early as 2012 but finally, after waiting for so long, it’s finally here. I have 3 Ninjas waiting to Level Up.

13th Bambino De Pasig Grand Festival

For the Program of Activities, the 13th Grand Bambino De Pasig Festival will have:

Novenario – From January 10-18, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral

Movie Showing – January 14-17, 2014, 7:00 PM at Plaza Rizal

Mass Baptism – January 18, 2014 (Saturday), 8:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral (a.k.a. Pasig Cathedral)

Musical Concert – January 18, 2014 (Saturday), 5:00 PM at Plaza Rizal (in front of Pasig Cathedral)

Grand Bambino Festival Parade – January 19, 2014 (Sunday), 3:00 PM at Caruncho Avenue (in front of the Pasig City Hall)

This year’s theme is “Sto. Nino De Pasig, Patnubay Ka sa Katatagan at Pagkakaisa” (Child Jesus of Pasig, You’re a Guide in Stability and Unity). As Pasiguenos, let’s support our very own Bambino De Pasig Festival.

San Jose Parish Placer, Iloilo City

The San Jose Parish Placer (in Spanish: Parroquia de San Jose Placer, Ciudad de Iloilo) is located at Plaza Libertad, Iloilo City. It’s just a few meters from the Iloilo City Hall and is in front of the Statue of Jose Rizal in Plaza Libertad.

Masses at the San Jose Parish Placer is offered in English and Ilonggo, the local dialect in Iloilo. There are also novenas and other devotions in the church for Sta. Rita (Monday), St. Joseph (Tuesday), Mother of Perpetual Help (Wednesday), Our Lady of Consolation and Cincture (Thursday) and Sto. Nino de Cebu (Friday).

I can’t find the marker of the church, but according to the website Philippine Churches, the San Jose Parish Place in Plaza Libertad, Iloilo City was established in 1768 and has a feast day of March 19. What makes the San Jose Parish Placer unique is the maroon color of the church and Corinthian columns inside the church.
