My First Payout From Nuffnang Philippines

Finally, I got paid for blogging. Although I received a check from Black Label Ads before, I wasn’t able to encash it because it requires me to have a dollar account. This is actually my 2nd check I received from blogging and my first payout from Nuffnang Philippines.

first nuffnang pay-out

My first payout from Nuffnang Philippines was P2,396.07.

The minimum amount needed to have a check from Nuffnang Philippines is P2,000. I was able to achieve it last June 5, 2012 after blogging for months. I received an email from Nuffnang Philippines asking me for my bank details since they’re going to deposit it there. I replied back giving them my company payroll ATM account number.

Last August 14, 2012, I received a confirmation email that my check is already on its way. I thought I’ll be receiving a check via snail mail similar to what Black Label Ads did. To my surprised, it was deposited to my payroll ATM account and I was able to withdraw it last August 20, 2012.

The amount is small compared to what other bloggers are receiving on their blog but it’s a good start and it inspires me to work harder as a blogger. This cash amount that I received from Nuffnang Philippines as my first payout is actually just an icing on the cake. With all the movie tickets and items I’ve received through their many events and promo, I have gained so much from being a Nuffnanger. I actually encourage my friends to try blogging not just for the monetary benefits that I get from it but also for the perks and friends that I meet along the way.

From the money that I got from Nuffnang Philippines, I bought Hickok coin purse, a big Fibrella umbrella, magazines (Gadgets Magazine, Men’s Health and Digital Photographer Philippines) and I used it as my baon (allowance) to work.

How about you, how much was your first payout from Nuffnang Philippines?

I was thrilled to received this email from Nuffnang Philippines.

My First AdBrite Check

I received my first check (from blogging) today. It’s courtesy of Black Label Ads a.k.a. ADBRITE BLA, INC. of San Francisco, CA. The amount is $50.30 and I got a rush of adrenaline when I saw the envelope today from the courier.

IMG_5787

After a few minutes, the reality sinks in. How on Earth will I encash a US dollar check here in the Philippines? The check doesn’t have any logo of a Philippine bank! So I made a few Google search on “how to encash an AdBrite check in the Philippines”. I got a couple of suggestions and information from different bloggers in the country.

I called UnionBank Shaw Blvd., BPI Pasig Mabini and Western Union Customer Service to validate the information I got from the Internet. There are two ways to encash my AdBrite US dollar check:

  1. I need to open a US dollar bank account – The minimum amount to open a US dollar account in UnionBank is $500. They can’t deposit it on a peso account nor the Cashsense ATM (much to my disappointment). I’ve read online that in BDO the minimum amount to open a dollar account is $200.
  2. Have the AdBrite check received at the bank – BPI Pasig Mabini confirmed that I can have the check received by them and wait 45 banking days for the check to be cleared. The check that I got doesn’t have the words “for deposit” so according to the teller; this AdBrite check I got is “for collection”. The problem is, they only accept a check that has a $100 minimum amount.

As for Western Union, they denied the Internet information that they are receiving checks for deposit or exchange to Philippine Peso. Western Union is still for sending and receiving money.

The default settings of my Black Label Ads account is set to generate a check every $100 dollars but a few months back, I changed it to $50 so that I can see the check and experience converting it to Philippine Peso.

Now I went back to my Black Label Ads settings and revert it back to $100 and hoping that I could encash my 2nd check. What would I do with my first AdBrite check? I’ll just have it framed and hang to my wall as a souvenir.

Have you ever encash an AdBrite check? What’s your first AdBrite check story?

Sef’s Guide On How To Start His Blog

Last Friday, when Sef and I watched “Snow White and the Huntsman”, I brought up (again) the topic of starting his own blog. My rationale was for him to avail movie tickets from Nuffnang Philippines simply by blogging about their latest promos.

start a new blog

Finally he said YES and he promised to post his pictures that are mostly about fashion. Here are my suggestions and general guidelines to him on how to create and start his own blog:

1. Create a Gmail account – Gmail account is the most useful email on the Internet right now. It’s fully integrated to Blogger, Google+, YouTube and other sites that are owned or associated with Google. Not to mention Google AdSense is part of their company and that it is compatible with email clients like Mozilla Thunderbird.

step 1 B

2. Create a Blogger account and publish a maiden post – I highly suggest the Blogger platform over Wordpress since it is more user-friendly in my opinion. Not to mention that Blogger doesn’t delete your blog even if it’s inactive for several months unlike Wordpress.

step 2 B

3. Download and install Windows Live Writer – It’s the best blog tool on the Internet right now. Windows Live Writer is part of the Windows Live Essentials that includes other software like Windows Live Messenger. You have the option to install only the Windows Live Writer.

step 3 B

4. Add your new blog to Windows Live Writer – Adding your blog to WLW is easy. Just select Blogger and then type in your Blogger/Gmail username and password and it would then download your blog’s theme for you.

step 4 B

5. Start Posting! – Don’t forget to compose your articles in Microsoft Word first. Their spelling and grammar correction tool are very useful. If you’re happy with your blog post or article, then copy it to Windows Live Writer. Put a “catchy” blog post title and click Publish.

step 5 b

6. Customize your blog layout – After publishing one or two blog post, it’s time to customize or accessorize your blog. Simply login to your Blogger account, click on your blog and click Layout. You would then see the layout of your blog and you can add items like Popular Posts, Blog’s Starts and HTML/JavaScript (this is very useful) by clicking on Add a Gadget and then drag it on where you want to place it on your blog.

step 6 b

7. Sign-up and add the codes from Nuffnang Philippines – For me, they are the best blog advertisement company these days. It’s not actually the revenue that you get from blogging itself that is great about them, but it’s the perks that they frequently gives out to Nuffnangers.

step 7 b

8. Add your Facebook, Twitter and Google+ accounts to your blog – If you’re a social networking addict, you might as well add your accounts to your blog so that your readers can follow your post more efficiently. Google is your best friend here on how to add this social networking sites to your blog.

Google-Plus-Facebook-Twitter1

9. Create Disqus account and submit your blog to LinkWithin – Disqus is the best software there is to manage your blog’s comments. Here are 9 reasons why you should use Disqus. LinkWithin on the other hand is the best way for readers to see your past post. LinkWithin would make sure that your previous posts will not go unnoticed.

step 9 b

10. Asked bloggers to Link Exchange with your new blog – If you are a reader of popular blogs, it would be great if you could ask them to Link Exchange with you. It’s a great way to advertise your blog. Also, try to make remarkable comments to other blogs or websites that uses Disqus or has the capability to display your blog through your signature.

I sure hope Sef would follow these steps that I learned the hard way in my almost-two-years of blogging. Other suggestions are welcome so please use the comments section. Happy blogging Sef!

My Own Website

website

I'm planning to have my own website since Glenn's business is creating and hosting websites. Being the supportive boyfriend that I am, I should be one of his clients as well.
I'm still thinking of things to post on my own website. Should I go anonymous or reveal myself? Should I include my family and relatives to my audience?

Should I set it up as a personal blog or a photo blog? What are the things that my audience could do on my website?

Since this website is a paid website (well, Glenn will be giving me huge discount), I should think of ways of generating money out of it, through Nuffnang, Google AdSense, Black Label Ads or Infolinks.

Another question would be if I'll go wholesome (GP), not-so-wholesome (PG-13) or XXX (R-18). Right now, I have blogs that falls into these categories and I'm still thinking which one of these I should continue as a website (to eliminate the “blogspot” on the URL).

It would be great if my website would just be www.eltorobumingo.com or www.badingnakolboy.com. Since this website that I'm planning right now will be designed by Glenn and his staff, I'll probably name it like www.elmerlovesglenn.com. Sounds cheesy?

For now, I'll probably convert one of my blogs as a website and let's find out how it would go from there.

A Surprise from Cashsense

cashsense logo plain

This morning, I received a surprise from Cashsense via 2GO. I got my Cashsense VISA ATM card, which is issued by Union Bank. This would make it easy for me to receive payments from Cashsense for the ad service that this blog is running for them. It’s sort of sponsorship program.

Cashsense was formed in 2005 as the payment processing division for a multi-national IT development and marketing company based in Manila. It then includes remittance business for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and works similarly with PayPal. If you’re uncomfortable using your credit card online, then Cashsense is an alternative. Right now, they have a Shop & Pay Cash service running for Facebook. It would make it easier for us customers to buy items online and pay cash at any MLhuiller or 7-11 outlet in the country.

So far, I’m surprised at how they handle publishers like me. Their support representatives are superb when it comes to accommodation of new publishers’ application. They even send the ATM card immediately. I set up this blog last October 19 and within 3 business days, I already have the card. It’s that fast!

I just hope that Cashsense is not as strict as Google’s AdSense when it comes to censorship. Not that I’m planning to post adult contents on this site, but occasionally, I might post gorgeous guys in underwear (provided that a known photographer took the picture, for artistic quality). I’ll talk about my bad experience with AdSense some other time. For now, I’m very happy and satisfied with the Associate Program of Cashsense. Please do visit their Facebook page.
