Panaderia Dimas-Alang: Founded 1919

I live in Pasig City almost half of my life. Since 2006, I’ve been passing by the famous (and oldest) bakery in Pasig City – Dimas-Alang. It’s located in one of the major streets of Pasig City downtown in Barangay Kapasigan. Yesterday was the first time I’ve bought bread from this famous bakery.

Panaderia Dimas-Alang – truly, a landmark of Pasig City. It will be celebrating its Centennial Anniversary in 2019.

I’ve always wanted to drop by this famous (and landmark) bakery and finally, yesterday, while we’re waiting for the Children’s Golden Show, we decided to take some pictures of this famous bakery and the different breads it offered. I haven’t seen the famous bread “Hindi Ko Akalain” nor tasted the famous pandesal (since it’s already 3:00 PM) but I was able to eat Hopiang Baboy and Cheese Bread. Now I know why it’s famous and is known all-over Pasig City – the breads are delicious and the prices are very affordable.

Dimas-Alang by the way is the pen name of Philippine Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. This famous bakery in Pasig City was founded in 1919 and I can’t wait for its 100th year anniversary (Centennial) in 2019. I hope Panaderia Dimas-Alang would have the grandest celebration a bakery could have.

Some of the breads I’ve seen were:

French Bread – P40 for the big one and P20 for the smaller one.

Special Ensaimada – P60.

Chocolate Cinnamon – P50.

IMG_2691

Egg pie – P170 for the whole pie and P17 per slice.

IMG_2692

Custard Loaf – P140 for the big one and P28 for the small one. Chocolate Roll – P150.

Panaderia Dimas-Alang has a very wide variety of breads available in a bakery.

The staff of Panaderia Dimas-Alang were very friendly.

The Coffee Shop at Barretto, Subic, Zambales

I first ate at The Coffee Shop in Barangay Barretto, Subic, Zambales in 2004. My first love, Aerous, who lives in Barretto, introduced me to this place. Aerous and I met online via the online game Ragnarok and sometime in 2004, we met for the first time.

I always drop by The Coffee Shop whenever I’m at Subic, Zambales.

It was the start of a wonderful friendship from 2004 to 2009 when he finally fell in love with his boyfriend. It was a sort of long-distance friendship since at that time; I was working at Bacoor, Cavite. Between 2004 and 2009, I made around 17 trips to his place in Subic and in all those meetings; we usually have lunch at The Coffee Shop.

Two of my favorites at The Coffee Shop are the Jumbo Taco and the Mashed Potato. I haven’t been to any other restaurant that offers Jumbo Taco and Mashed Potato that are more delicious that the ones being offered at The Coffee Shop.

The last time I was at The Coffee Shop was September 4, 2012. I was there for a 2-day vacation to see Aerous and to visit the places that we usually hang-out in our 5 years friendship, which are mostly in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) area. It was nice seeing him and to be updated on the things that he’s been doing so far.

It was good to see Aerous at The Coffee Shop and I can’t wait to visit him again this year. Have you been to Subic and to The Coffee Shop?

The Coffee Shop also evolved into a hotel but I haven’t tried their accommodation yet. Hopefully on my next visit, I’ll stay at this place as well.

The Coffee Shop is located at the corner of Rizal Street and the National Highway in Barangay Barretto, Subic, Zambales.

Dinner With Sef At Pepper Lunch

I first heard about Pepper Lunch from chuvaness.com. I learned that they have a branch at Shangri-La Plaza Mall (which is the nearest mall to my place) and planned to taste their food the next time I visit the place.

Last Friday, I got two tickets to the movie “Snow White and the Huntsman” from Nuffnang Philippines and the venue was Shangri-La Cineplex which is on the same location as Pepper Lunch. So Sef and I had our dinner there. Yes it was Sef who accompanied me to the movie and not my boyfriend Glenn. I’ll explain soon.

Let’s get back to Pepper Lunch. The place was cozy and light and very conducive to eating. The foods that we ordered were great and tasted very good. I had the beef pepper rice while Sef ordered the chicken pepper rice. Everything is okay except for the price. It’s a bit pricey for a simple, call center guy like me.

The beef pepper rice cost P215.00 (no soda or iced tea included). I ordered a glass of Sprite and it cost P40. Other than the price, everything is okay with the restaurant. The good thing is, they have a current promo for students that will last until August. The bad thing is, I’m no longer a student.

The staffs were friendly and accommodating. Sef left his umbrella in Pepper Lunch and the male staff chased us all the way to the escalator to give back his umbrella. That’s very kind of their staff to do.

Just a short info on Pepper Lunch – they also have branches at Power Plant, (Rockwell Center), Alabang Town Center, Greenbelt 5, Robinsons Ermita, SM Mega Mall and SM Mall of Asia.

Pepper Lunch is a “fast-steak” restaurant concept that started in Japan in 1994. They opened their doors to us Filipinos in 2008.

Kamay Kainan Foods

It’s my second time to dine at Kamay Kainan in Market! Market!. This time, I was with my current team mates and I brought along my Canon EOS 1100D. The first time I took pictures of the foods here, I was using my Canon digital camera.

Without further ado, here are the foods being serve at this wonderful restaurant.
