Banda 31 Original in Close-Up

This year’s On-The-Spot (OTS) contest in Villa Escudero is different in a way because we take pictures of the event in Close-Up category (not the usual Wide Angle or 18-55 Kit Lens). Shooting a fiesta in macro (or close-up) is something new to us.

One of the most photographed groups of performers during the Villa Escudero’s Feast of the Ascension is the members of Banda 31 Original of Sta. Maria, Bulacan Inc. Probably because of their uniform in red-orange combination or their musical instruments.

Other reasons why most of us shoot their group are because of their musical instruments. It’s really good in macro/close-up – showing the details of the flute, drums and other musical instruments.

Here are my close-up pictures of Banda 31 Original of Sta. Maria, Bulacan Inc. I would love to take their pictures again on June 22, 2014 at Luneta. They will give a performance at the Concert at the Park.

Napindan, Taguig in One Year

It was May 2013 that I met my fellow photographer from Nagpayong, Gilbert Obal. It was also my first time to take pictures of this area in Napindan, Taguig City near the Napindan Bridge. It was a very scenic place for me and a lot of residents from Napindan, Taguig and Nagpayong, Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. It’s just across the river from the Pinagbuhatan Ferry Station.

It’s been a complete one year that I was able to take pictures of this place and saw the yearly transformation of the place from being a playground in summer and a swamp in the rainy season. Now that PAG-ASA officially declared that the rainy season has begun, I’ll once again see the transformation of the place.

It’s been an awesome one year, taking pictures of the place and the people who find refuge in this place amidst the busy city life of Pasig and Taguig. I’m sure Gilbert and I will witness another year of transformation of this piece of paradise.

441st Araw ng Pasig Celebration

The schedule for the 441st Araw ng Pasig Celebration were already posted on giant billboards in Tramo, Pasig City but it’s still not appearing on the Official Website of Pasig City nor on the Facebook pages of Mayor Maribel Eusebio or Bobby Eusebio.

Pasig City

The 441st Araw ng Pasig will be on July 2, 2014 and it will be a good photo-opp (photography opportunity). I hope I’m available on that date.

The Tourism Office of Pasig City is doing a lousy job in promoting this yearly activity.

Banda 31 Original of Sta. Maria, Bulacan, Inc.

I was very fortunate to attend the Feast of the Ascension 2014 at Villa Escudero, Tiaong, Quezon (sharing boundaries with San Pablo, Laguna). It’s my 3rd time at this famous plantations and resort and it’s always a good thing to visit this place.

This time, Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort has a new band – Banda 31 Original of Sta. Maria, Bulacan, Inc. Most of our entries to our club’s On-The-Spot (OTS) contest for Villa Escudero feature the band. Sad to say, I have very little information about them aside from being a band from Sta. Maria, Bulacan. Their Facebook page also give little information about them aside from having an objective “to uplift not only the growth of the group but the members entirety as well.”

They also believe that the band “can be more of a person with music as their passion and confidence as their foundation. Our band is becoming popular and we are proud to say that we are making our footsteps more visible for others to follow.”
